A Poem About the Boycotting of Great Lakes Council’s 2005 Mayoral Election
by Peter Mooney
We are the media, we work for a Mayor.
We say what we like, we don't have to care.
We are the boycotters who once were Councillors,
We are the goodies, stop trying to trounce us.
|
We signed our names to vote on the date,
We broke that promise to help our mate.
The media always tell our side,
Without their help the others are fried.
|
We worship our King upon his throne,
The past has many secrets to tell,
We'll never let the truth be known.
Our lies the media are here to sell.
|
Blame the others, we've done no wrong,
They dared to challenge the angelic throng.
The 12th of September is the latest it's been,
The last six years, my election machine.
|
Don't copy me, don't do what I've done,
Or I'll take my marbles and homewards run.
If I can't have it no one will,
I don't care whose blood I spill.
|
Our media friends are nice to us,
Always making of us a fuss.
The challenger's calls to the Gov' today,
Was a bumbling mess she dared to say.
|
Our media friends are nice to us,
But to our challengers an awful cuss.
We know they're right, but that can't be,
Because we control the local T.V.
|
The return of one invisible person,
Hasn't stopped them from accursn'.
In actual fact it's made it worse,
'Cause all we hear is poor me verse.
|
I'm sad to say the media stinks,
One sided, pathetic, hopeless me thinks.
The reality is never true,
The end result makes me spew.
|
If the Gov' does step in,
I hope they're aware of the circus's sin.
They said they won't elect a Mayor,
They've resigned, they've quit, it ends right there.
|
They've broken the rules, they've broken our trust,
To let them go on would be unjust.
What will it be next time they strike,
Over someone, something that they don't like?
|
Can you afford the risk involved,
To let the culture that has evolved,
Corruption, hate, fear and spite,
To ruin our Council - they have no right.
