January 19, 2008 – 1. WE'RE ON HOLIDAYS
| WE'RE ON HOLIDAYS
|
We'll pinch your park when you're not around,
We're on holidays and we'll spread ourselves round.
Four cars and a boat will take up your ground,
No parking for you, but we're safe and sound.
We'll need the lawn, the driveway and street parking for three,
And a place for our dogs who like to wee.
You locals can park wherever you choose,
'Cept in front of your houses - for that space we'll use.
We'll throw our smoke packets right near your fence,
Because we want you to take offence.
We'll encroach whenever we get the chance,
And show you locals who wears the pants.
We Slickers use the tap in the reserve,
To clean our boat motor - yes we have a nerve.
We know there's a drought but we don't care,
Anything for free we think is fair.
Sweep the leaves down the drain,
Cut down your trees locals,
To reduce our pain.
You've now been told what to do,
If not, we'll Solicitor you.
You Locals didn't do what we said,
So we'll aim our floodlight at your house,
Although it's high and above our head,
It's just to annoy you and your spouse.
We'll lean things against your new fence,
And scratch it and mark it and cause more offence.
We're not nasty, hateful or bad,
You should welcome us and be glad.
Our philosophy is simple and easy to apply,
We don't give a shit 'bout people nearby.
We're on holidays and that's our cue,
And what we say is F*!# you.
Old mate and his mate are the exception here,
They always say G'day while sucking a beer.
"Can we move the car so you can park?",
"We're on holidays and it's not a lark".

October 7, 2007 – 1. DIFFERENT COLOURS
| DIFFERENT COLOURS
|
New renter's recycled bin emptied, but not their green waste,
The renter before - both bins emptied in the one truck on the same day.
The rules were broken.
New renter is different, the rules apply.
New renter gets the truck once a week.
The renter before - had the truck once, twice for the week.
The rules were broken.
New renter is different, the rules apply.
The renter before - a missed bin emptied any day of the week.
The rules were broken.
The rest of us are different, the rules apply.
Council garbage is not pie in the sky.
New renter is different and doesn't work there,
Is that why they don't even bloody well care?
The renter before and "that community" change reality,
They show contempt for public scrutiny,
They could never be wrong.
Is their apology for the past just BS?
How will they "spin" out of this new mess?
How long will they continue? Does anyone else know?
Will it end by a vote or an overthrow?
New renter is different, their family's been hurt.
The rules were broken and now they're buried in dirt.
New renter is different to the renter before.
Same coloured bins, different coloured skins!

September 12, 2007 – 1. MY COUSIN
| MY COUSIN
|
Drip...drip...drip...drip.
He wasn't alone,
There was someone in the bed next to him who said he'd heard something dripping last night, but didn't know what it was.
His life slowly leaking out of him, in the black, dark solitary night - that's what it was.
Did he think he was dreaming or did he know he was dying and couldn't do anything about it?
Did he peacefully accept it and softly cry in lonely grief for his family he was losing and the endless days of play and swimming in the dam?
Or did he fight and scream and yell and refuse to die, not knowing that on his outside he was motionless and soundless?
Still screaming inside, please someone, turn the light on, I'm scared something bad is happening to me, please help me.
I think I'm going away and I'm scared it's not home, it's somewhere I've never been before.
I'm alone, I have to be a big boy, I have to do this by myself, there's no one here to help me.
Goodbye Mummy, Daddy and my Brother.
His body was already dead, nowhere for his spirit to live anymore.
The Nurse had gone home, she thought he was all right.
Who was he? Someone I've never met.
His Aunty said the poor little bugger bled to death, she said he was a good kid.
A friggin goitre operation. Who's to blame? I don't know, maybe his time was up if that's what you believe.
Who was he?
He was my Cousin - I never met him.

October 19, 2005 – 2. Minister for Roads All Shook Up After Launching Personal Attack.
I want to offer a different view to most of the mainstream news about the Andrew Fraser and Joe Tripodi situation.
Firstly I think you should see how it started.
Unless we read the NSW Legislative Assembly Hansard (Proof) we are at risk of possibly being misled to believe that Andrew Fraser has a drinking problem and is totally to blame for the incident.
In my opinion Mr Fraser was the victim of an unchecked, personally insensitive and provocative verbal attack. I do not agree with Mr Fraser's physical response to the attack. But after reading what was said to him I can understand his frustration and anger. People are dying in car accidents on that particularly notorious part of the Pacific Highway and still, we don't see any actual physical preventative safety measures being put in place.
What wasn't reported by the media was that Mr Fraser was not advised that the Minister for Roads would be visiting his electorate. The allegation by the Minister that Mr Fraser "was unable to be found in his own electorate" at the time of the Minister's visit was because he was travelling to Yass to attend the funeral of a colleague's Father.
Mr Fraser unreservedly apologised publicly to the Minister for Roads and members of the House for his actions.
It now seems that the media have settled on the most sensationalistic shallow headlines such as "disgraced", "brawl", "humiliated", "drunk", "lunged at him and grabbed him by the throat", blah, blah, blah......
You can see from the film footage of the incident that he was grabbed by the shirt and NOT the throat. It "labors" me to say, I smell a rat and a bloody big one at that.
It's plain to see Mr Fraser cares about his electorate from which he has a lot of support for his campaign to make the Pacific Highway safer. For those who have suffered tragedy, it's important to see someone trying to do something about it.
As Mr Fraser left Parliament House chocked up and with tears in his eyes he said "Do what you can to get this bloody highway fixed".

October 19, 2005 – 1. Australian Industrial Relations Reform - How Many People Will Forced Onto the Dole?
If the Australian Industrial Relations Reforms go ahead and as time passes by, will people be forced onto the dole because they say no to new workplace agreements?
Would stress being put on family relationships and more people being on the dole be an improvement for the Australian economy?

September 26, 2005 – 1. Submissions to The National Parks and Wildlife Service's (NPWS) proposal to stop 4WD access to Lighthouse Beach at Seal Rocks have closed
by Peter Mooney
Submissions to The National Parks and Wildlife Service's (NPWS) proposal to stop 4WD access to Lighthouse Beach at Seal Rocks closed on Friday 16th September 2005. According to Booti Booti National Parks Office over seven hundred submissions were received from many different recreational users and we did have a say about the proposal.
Minister for the Environment Bob Debus MP, will make the final decision towards the end of the year hopefully. I won't be surprised if it's early next year.
Nothing changes until then. So, get outside and enjoy Australia's Great Outdoors - we have a right to.
Thankyou to all those people who made the effort to send in their submissions and have a say. Things like this always seem to be a political matter in the end. If we want to keep Australia's Great Outdoors open for all to enjoy then we have to become politically involved, have a say and lobby the politicians responsible for any issue that is important to us. I agree it can be a pain in the arse, but if we don't get in and mix it with them, then we'll lose our freedoms.
As much as the anti social element who appear to want to eradicate humans from the Great Outdoors annoy us. We can learn from them how to lobby the politicians on issues that are important to us - minus the nasty bits of course.

I love Australia, especially the Great Outdoors and if you're reading this I'd like to think that you feel the same or at least a similar way. The website Great-Outdoors-Australia.com was started to share with everyone the many wonderful ways to experience Great Outdoors Australia. But the more I got into it, the more I realised these ways were systematically being taken away from us.
Gates, wire cables and piles of dirt are being put across roads, bush tracks and beach car park entrances - no signs, no explanation.
Access to public recreation areas for the everyday person and families in Australia is being blocked at an alarmingly fast rate. Money collection machines are being put up in roadside stops that were once free for all people. The trend of having to pay a Government agency or department for a permit or license for the simplest of outdoor recreational activities is increasing on a daily basis.
Are we being denied our Australian Cultural Heritage by what appears to be an ever increasing wave of tyrannical cultural terrorists? Don't be fooled by their terminology. E.g. In the Australian Concise Oxford Dictionary, the word "environmentalist" means "1. A person who is concerned with or advocates the protection of the environment. 2. A person who considers that environment has the primary influence on the development of a person or a group."
So therefore, an "environmentalist" being a person concerned with or advocating the protection of the environment should, according to the meaning for their existence also show by their actions, that they consider environment has the primary influence on the development of a person or a group.
What I'm seeing instead is a group of hypocritical, antisocial, self delusionary tyrants, masquerading as "Environmentalists" who are locking up Australia's Great Outdoors and denying the community access to what is public land and callously depriving people of an environment that has a primary influence on their intellectual growth and cultural development. Or is it that they just don't care about other people?
Also consider if you will, two things:-
(1) The negative effect these masquerading "Environmentalists" are having on the mental health of our nation. The frustration, anxiety, stress and resentment that people feel at being blocked and stopped from recreating in the Great Outdoors is a serious, yet little talked about issue. Ask anyone the world over who loves the outdoors and has a deep connection to it, what it feels like to be denied access to it?
(2) The damage being done to the reputation of the true Environmentalists of this world.
Where are the Australian political parties that have "grassroots democracy" as a part of their charter and constitution with regard to allegations that the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are openly and with contempt for public scrutiny blocking and stopping Australians from recreating in the Great Outdoors?
They say they want to increase opportunities for public participation in political, social and economic decision making and to break down inequalities of wealth and power which inhibit participatory democracy. I believe they have failed and continue to fail those people who in this particular case, are at the mercy of Government departments that appear to have become a power unto themselves.
The Australian public are being consulted too late or not at all on a lot of environmental management plans by Government departments.
Is a repeat offender of the use of this Government department inequality of wealth and power to inhibit participatory democracy our very own National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS)? Those of us who have a generational life history of enjoying the Great Outdoors know from our own experiences of the non consultative, slowly but surely blocking and stopping of access to Australia's Great Outdoors.
If you doubt what I say, go for a drive in your 4wd or 2wd vehicle and see for yourself. It's beautiful weather at the moment to be outdoors and with Spring happening next month it can only get better. Enjoy it while you can.

August 5, 2005 – 1. Australian Industrial Relations Reform - Prime Minister will not guarantee workers employment safety.
I don't like the fact that Mr Howard, the Prime Minister of Australia will not guarantee worker's employment safety under the new plan for Industrial Relations Reform.
It appears workers are safer now than they will be if the plan goes ahead. What can we do about it? If the will of the people is crushed by the opposing will of the Government, then it is not Democracy.
Write letters to your local Members of Parliament, ring radio stations, join in the people's fight against being bulldozed by the unwanted Industrial Relations Reforms. Think of as many Democratic ways as you can to get the message through that we don't want the unguaranteed Industrial Relations Reforms.
If it does get through, then the next elections are our chance to change it.
On this one Mr Howard, you've lost me.
